Mortherless Queens Scholarship Fund
Established 2020
This scholarship fund is a part of the CFMT General Scholarship Application that is open annually from December 1st to February 1st.

Eligibility: Incoming or existing college students who have experienced the loss of their mother and plan to attend a Historically Black College or University. Preference will be given to students attending the Donor’s Alma Mater Florida A & M University and those whose mother is no longer living.

“As a first-generation college graduate, it is important to me to help those who have experienced such a detrimental loss pursue higher education without the worry of additional debt. My hope is that the recipient of this scholarship feels the love and support from someone that has genuinely walked in their shoes.”

History: Linda Hope’s loss of her mother at the young age of 10 sparked the catalyst of her desire to connect and provide for others who have to walk the same path as she did. With the partnership of her sister, Linda launched the Motherless Queens annual brunch that meets yearly on Mother’s Day, and in 2020 they founded The Motherless Queens Scholarship Fund.

“I’d like to establish this scholarship to honor my mother’s value for education and to offer financial support to students that have experienced the loss of their mother,” says Linda.
