Mary La Haie is the Controller at Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, overseeing all aspects of fund accounting, ensuring accurate management of restricted and unrestricted funds, endowments, and grant disbursements.

With a focus on compliance and accuracy, Mary leads annual audits and Form 990 filings, coordinating effectively with auditors to ensure smooth processes. She excels in producing precise financial reports and conducting detailed analyses to optimize financial efficiency. Mary’s leadership extends to mentoring the finance team and collaborating across departments to support strategic initiatives, providing valuable insights for high-level financial strategies.

Before joining the Community Foundation, Mary held diverse roles across nonprofit and for-profit sectors. She excelled in managing accounting departments, implementing streamlined systems, and fostering team collaboration to achieve shared goals.

A Nashville resident since childhood, Mary has deep roots in Tennessee and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking in the mountains, walking her dogs, and cherishing moments with her family. The opportunity to give back to our Community inspires Mary.

“I love being a part of an organization whose primary purpose is improving lives in our community,” says Mary. “I grew up in Nashville and view this as my opportunity to give back.”

When she isn’t in the office, Mary enjoys walking her two rescue dogs and loves to escape to the mountains (in the hot Nashville summers) to get a change of weather, scenery and to hike.
